Using an app called Pact, you perform healthy activities and earn money for doing them. The only drawback is that you have to commit to completing activities and if you fail you lose money.  This app gives you about 18 cents for each workout you complete with a maximum of 1 per a day, about 5 cents per a vegetable or fruit photo that get approved limit 5 per day and about 7 cents per a day for logging your day’s food using MyFitnessPal.

I would recommend only committing to an amount you can guarantee that you will complete. The minimum cost is $5 dollars per a missed activity this could be huge especially if you really over commit yourself. I’ve actually managed to earn quite a bit of money from this app, and it encourages me to take a bike ride to work rather than driving since that can count as an activity if it’s long enough. One great feature this app has is that it also syncs with Apple Health so if you hit 10,000 steps in one day that will count as an activity. There are also many other apps that can sync including Run Keeper and Map My Run.

Overall this is a great app. It’s often criticized because it is easy to lose money. Over my year using it, I have never lost any money from the app. It has been a great source of extra income with minimum effort. You won’t get rich, but you may get healthier making that worthwhile all on its own.
